LJUBLJANA
Ljubljana, also known as The Dragon City, is Slovenia’s capital and largest city. It is the country’s cultural, educational, economic, political, and administrative center.
During antiquity, the area was home to the Roman city of Emona. The city of Ljubljana was first mentioned in the first part of the 12th century. It was the historical capital of Carniola, one of the Slovene-inhabited sections of the Habsburg Monarchy, and was located in the heart of a trade route between the northern Adriatic Sea and the Danube region.
The Ljubljana Dragon is the city’s symbol. It is featured on the top of Ljubljana Castle‘s tower on the Ljubljana coat of arms, as well as on the Ljubljanica-crossing Dragon Bridge (Zmajski most), and it represents strength, bravery, and glory!
