ROME

Santa Maria Sopra Minerva (Saint Mary above Minerva) is one of the main churches of the Dominicans in Rome. It takes its name because the first Christian church structure on the site was built over the ruins of a temple dedicated to the Egyptian deity Isis, which had been mistakenly attributed to the Greco-Roman goddess Minerva.
