NEW YORK CITY 🇺🇸
World Trade Center
One World Trade Center is the primary structure of the restored World Trade Center complex in New York City’s Lower Manhattan. One World Trade Center is the highest structure in the United States, the tallest structure in the Western Hemisphere, and the eighth tallest structure in the world. The supertall tower bears the same name as the North Tower of the first World Trade Center, which collapsed during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
David Childs, whose company (SOM) also built the Burj Khalifa and the Willis Tower, designed the structure. On April 27, 2006, work on below-ground utility relocations, footings, and foundations for the new structure began. On April 30, 2012, One World Trade Center overtook the Empire State Building as the highest tower in New York City.
